Bettina received her first doll as a gift in 1966, but only started collecting seriously in 1993. By the way, Bettina’s first doll was not Barbie, but Barbie’s “best friend” Midge.

“I could choose clothes for her or play with her. At a time when I had to stay at home, my friends came to me and we played together,” says Bettina, 62.
Bettina became seriously interested in collecting dolls at the age of 34. Then she pulled out her old 30 Barbie collection to give to her daughter Melissa.
But Melissa, now 31 and a table tennis coach at the Paralympic Games, wasn’t interested in her mother’s dolls.
“Barbie dolls were just playing sports. Basketball Barbie and football Barbie,” Bettina jokes.
But when she looked at her old doll collection, she rekindled her interest in them and began collecting Barbies and participating in exhibitions and auctions.
Now in the Bettina collection there is even an original and very rare first Barbie from 1959. The iconic doll made its debut at the American International Toy Fair this year. According to Bettina, the first Barbie was heavier than the dolls when it was made from molded plastic.
The woman does not admit how much the first Barbie cost her, but according to her, the prices of the second and third Barbies in the Mattel series can exceed 10 thousand euros.
With over 18,000 different dolls, it holds the record for the largest collectible since 2005. There are over a hundred thousand Barbie collectors in the world, but Bettina has the most extensive collection.
There are 5,000 to 8,000 dolls in the house, some of which are kept in a warehouse and some are exhibited in museums.
Bettina usually keeps her collection in boxes. And he buys new babies in duplicate. And according to him, he will never stop creating his collection. Meanwhile, he opened a “baby hospital” for broken toys.
