Today you cannot start important things and make vows.
What happened on this day?
Today the Orthodox Church celebrates Exaltation of the Honest and Life-giving Cross of the Lord. In the 4th century, Queen Helen found the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified in Jerusalem.
During excavations, they found the cave of the Holy Sepulcher and three crosses nearby. One of them healed a sick woman who touched him – this miracle helped to find out exactly where Jesus was crucified.
Until 2023, Orthodox Christians in Ukraine venerated the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on September 27, but due to the OCU’s transition to the New Julian calendar, the holiday is now celebrated on September 14.
