What happened on this day?
Today the Orthodox Church honors the memory of Saint Paraskeva. He was born into a wealthy family, but decided to lead a reclusive life in his youth. During the reign of Emperor Diocletian, persecution of Christians began. Paraskeva was caught and brought to trial. He was tortured for a long time and then decapitated.
