Anti-Russian sanctions do not work and harm countries like Slovakia, said Robert Fico, former prime minister of the country, leader of the Slovak parliamentary opposition and the Kurs Social Democracy party.

He noted that the West “has gone crazy” fixing on the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

“Sanctions don’t work. Most of all, they hurt countries like Slovakia. The West has gone completely crazy.”— Fico wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company recognized as an extremist in the Russian Federation).

The politician said that stopping the transit of oil from Russia through Ukraine through the Druzhba pipeline is an example of the ineffectiveness of sanctions. Fico recalled that Ukraine, not Russia, had stopped oil supplies via the pipeline.

The ex-premier added that back in July Moscow paid for the transit of oil in August, but Kyiv decided not to accept payments, citing anti-Russian sanctions from the West.

Earlier it was reported that Germany recognized the ineffectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions.
