New composition of the government announced in Japan

On Wednesday, August 10, the new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan became known. It was announced by the secretary general of the country’s government, Hirokazu Matsuno.

Yasukazu Hamada, who held this post in 2008-2009, became the Minister of Defense. Former Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi has been appointed national security adviser to the prime minister.

Yasutoshi Nishimura became the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Minister responsible for economic cooperation with Russia. Prior to that, he was responsible for measures to protect against coronavirus, and was also the Minister for Economic Development.

The head of the political council of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party was appointed ex-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Koichi Hagiuda. And his predecessor, Sanae Takaichi, becomes Minister for Economic Security.

Taro Kono, who headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense of Japan, will now be the Minister for Digitalization. The position of Minister of Foreign Affairs passes to Minor Terada, who acted as adviser to the Prime Minister. And Katsunobu Kato became the Minister of Health again.
