Two days of mourning declared in Armenia in connection with the explosion in the shopping center in Yerevan

Armenia declared mourning on August 17 and 18 in memory of the victims of the explosion in the Surmalu shopping center in Yerevan. This is stated on the website of the government.

According to the latest data, as a result of an explosion in a shopping center, 16 people were killed and 62 were injured.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reported that 18 people are considered missing. The Russian embassy in Armenia did not confirm the information about the Russian woman missing as a result of the explosion.

It should be reminded that on August 14, an explosion occurred in a warehouse of materials for fireworks in the Yerevan shopping center. Eyewitnesses began posting footage from the scene on social media. At the same time, fireworks continued to explode for a long time.

On that day, Yerevan City Hall clarified that people could remain under the rubble of the destroyed building. Rescue services are on site. Later it became known that rescuers pulled ten people out of the rubble of the shopping center.

According to data as of August 16, the number of victims of the explosion in Surmalu has increased to 16 people. The body of a child was also pulled out from under the rubble.
