The first steps to restore the stadium “Donbass Arena” damaged as a result of shelling by Ukrainian troops have already been taken. This was told to TASS by the mayor of Donetsk Alexei Kulemzin.

“The first steps have already been taken thanks to Russian partners”– he said.

In particular, issues related to the replacement of destroyed double-glazed windows were resolved. In Russia, they found a manufacturer who can and is ready to do this.

Kulemzin stressed that the Donbass Arena is a part of the city that will be “preserved, built and restored.”

Recall that last summer, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the Donbass Arena stadium, which was home to the Shakhtar football club before the conflict began.

Earlier, Kulemzin said that the stadium is planned to be restored in the next two years.

The head of state held a meeting of the Security Council, after which he announced the recognition of the republics. Friendship and cooperation agreements were also signed with the independent Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The State Duma and the Federation Council ratified these agreements.
