The publication notes that the Hyunmoo-2 ballistic missile fell. Residents of the nearby city of Gangneung noticed a bright flash and heard a loud roar.
According to Yonhap’s source, the projectile itself did not explode – the gunpowder burned in it. As the newspaper notes, the joint exercises were held against the backdrop of regular tests of ballistic missiles by North Korea.
Earlier it was reported that the DPRK on October 4 launched a ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan. Projectiles were fired in the same direction from North Korea on 1 October.
Japan’s Deputy Defense Minister Toshiro Ino said that for the first time in history, North Korea conducted four weapons tests at once in one week.
