In Ukraine, they decided to revive the legendary Mriya aircraft. An-225 – the heaviest and most lifting in the world, it existed in a single copy until it was destroyed near Kyiv during the hostilities. The restoration project is estimated at a gigantic sum – half a billion dollars. Despite the difficult situation in the economy, design work is already underway. But experts are sure that this project – nothing more than a publicity stunt. Details – in the browser’s material REN TV George Grivenny.
The last time “Mriya” was seen in such a sad form was in May of this year. Then the remains of the largest aircraft in the world, destroyed by fire at the Gostomel airfield after shelling by the Ukrainian army, were dragged out, promised to be cut up and handed over for scrap. But, apparently, in Kyiv they decided that the only, albeit seriously wounded, An-225 could still help. It won’t take off, so it will still take part in flights of PR fantasies.
“The Russian strike on infrastructure affects the problems of citizens, we need a positive. It is impossible to come up with a positive that the light will never turn off, this will never happen. But as for the Mriya aircraft, either it will be built or it will not there’s room for fantasies” says deputy director of the Institute of CIS countries, political scientist Vladimir Zharikhin.
In the Soviet Union, Mriya was created to participate in the Buran-Energia space program, it was the An-225 that delivered the Soviet space shuttle to the launch site of its first and last space mission. And even such a giant as the USSR had to strain all its air forces to create the Mriya.
“Several dozen large enterprises: the Tashkent plant, the Ulyanovsk aircraft plant, the Omsk plant – the assembly was a conglomerate, now a lot needs to be revived,” notes the honored military pilot of the Russian Federation Vladimir Popov.
After the collapse of the Union, Ukraine used the unique aircraft inherited free of charge for the transportation of any cargo, up to products for supermarkets. And now, after the destruction of a single copy of the ship, there are loud statements about the restoration of the second, never built, copy. Including from the wreckage of the first – “aviation cannibalism” in the drawing relation.
Even the very chronology of the so-called “Ukrainian recreation” of “Mriya” looks like a collection of absurdities. The day before, the general director of the Antonov Design Bureau announced that “the plane is already 30% ready.” Today his boss is being corrected by his press service: “the plane is not 30 percent ready, but only drawings for it.” No one will be surprised if tomorrow a message appears that only the ideas of these mythical drawings are 30 percent ready. Reminds me of an old Odessa anecdote: “Not Rabinovich, but Zelensky, not in the lottery, but in cards. And he didn’t ‘win’ but lost.”
Experts categorically do not believe in the industrial and financial potential of Ukraine. Only the organization of production will require from 500 million to 3 billion dollars.
“We need full cooperation with Europe, with China, with the United States, and then the question is: do they need a Ukrainian aircraft? And then the second question: in order to build such an aircraft, you need to understand why? “Here we have it?” There is simply not enough money, no mind, no means, no materials, “ – Honored Pilot of the Russian Federation Yuri Sytnik is sure.
In May 2021, just against the background of the second, unfinished copy of Mriya, Volodymyr Zelensky summed up the results of two years of his presidency, telling how soon and how high the Ukrainian economy would take off. That is, the place is already inhabited. It is quite suitable for full fakes and filming in augmented reality studios – presidential PR. Send soldiers to Snake Island to certain death just for the sake of a photo with a flag, or ask Western partners to launch a preventive nuclear strike on Russia, while at the same time lying to their voters about small losses at the front in order to maintain a “parade of fake blood,” and a model aircraft will do.
“If the organizers of these information campaigns believe that for this someone must die, then he dies. This is what the White Helmets did in Syria, this was done during the bombing of Yugoslavia, this is what they are doing now in Ukraine. it’s not very expensive, he will say that the plane is ready, just now we’ll finish it, and it will take off, there will be a rather beautiful PR effect,” says political scientist Dmitry Solonnikov.
“Mriya” in Ukrainian means a dream, and so far, Nezalezhnaya can only dream of the return of the former Soviet aviation heritage that was ineptly wasted over 30 years.
