Inflation and poverty are massively pushing British women to the panel

Record inflation in the UK has led to the fact that most of the country’s residents are urgently trying to cut costs. According to Bloomberg, the index of consumer confidence, that is, the ability of the population to make purchases, has reached an anti-record half a century ago. Pensioners in such conditions are in no hurry to leave the profession, and young women have become more willing to accept risky part-time jobs.

Stacey Claire is a stripper and model. She donates part of the money she earns to sex worker aid funds. And she was the first to sound the alarm. He says that prostitution is now experiencing a record rise. And it’s not normal.

“If history teaches anything, it is that when the economy is in a recession, the most vulnerable people suffer first. I am concerned about what happens to my acquaintances. Their lives were, to put it mildly, unstable”Claire shared.

And life does not get better: customers demand more and pay less. And women still go to the panel. They blame the economy for everything: they say that there is simply no other work, and there is not enough money for anything.

“There can be no doubt that they take on more risky sex work just to survive. We recently had a party – private, in some wilderness. You know, everything went well, but what would we do if everything turned out differently? “ added the stripper.

British Channel 4 spoke to a single mother who declined to give her real name. She says she quit prostitution many years ago and was forced to return to it this year when she received bills for electricity and heat.

“The bills have gone cosmic. I had to move to a cheaper apartment. It feels like my life has collapsed. Before I could think about security, I could afford to refuse a client. And now I have no choice. I work longer than before, and that’s it I still can’t spend money on myself – everything goes to buy food, for my daughter and pay bills. There are no extra funds. My daughter recently asked me to buy her a Happy Meal, and I did not have any money “the woman complains.

Trade unions of sex workers say that their phone is ringing – women are constantly calling and asking for help.

“Most of those who call us are mothers. I think this shows how bad everything is. And you know what pushed them into prostitution? It’s just that any other work does not allow us to make ends meet. that there is nothing to pay for light and travel”– said Niki Adams, representative of the union of sex workers in England.

The crisis and inflation began under Boris Johnson, continued under Liz Truss, and did not disappear under Rishi Sunak. His government promises to take some measures to protect vulnerable segments of the population, but if this happens, then sometime later. In the meantime, poverty pushes more and more British women onto the panel.
