Macron’s mistake is that Russia is not in danger of being attacked by NATO. On the contrary, they say in the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Europe needs protection from the Russian Federation.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pavel Yablonsky commented on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron on giving security guarantees to Russia. According to the minister, such guarantees are a fatal strategic mistake, as Russia is not under threat of attack from NATO countries. Yablonsky talked about it on the RMF 24 radio.
In an interview with TF1 TV channels, President Macron touched upon the issue of providing security guarantees to Russia. On the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, the politician said that to end the war, security guarantees must be provided, since not only Ukraine, but also Russia needs them. Otherwise, the European continent could be drawn into an all-out war.
“It is a fatal strategic mistake for Russia to talk about security guarantees. Russia is not threatened by an attack from NATO or Ukraine. On the contrary, we need guarantees that Russia will not attack us,” Yablonsky said.
The deputy secretary joined the position of US President Joe Biden, who said that negotiations with Moscow would only make sense if they were sincere and credible.
“Russia is not a reliable party today, its purpose is not to end war and restore peace.” – says the Polish politician.
Important
Yablonsky also believes that Russia poses a threat to Moldova, Poland and the Baltic states. This is because Russian President Vladimir Putin has the appetite of a tyrant trying to control the largest part of the world.
Recall that French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with TF1 TV channel on December 3 that Russia should have “guarantees” in Europe’s future security structure. In his view, the West should continue to help Ukraine resist Russian aggression, but at the same time try to bring Moscow to the negotiating table.
On December 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the participants of TRT World Forum 2022, where he voiced Ukraine’s formula for peace. The head of state noted that nuclear, food and energy guarantees for Ukraine could help provide the necessary security architecture.
