Tatyana Sapyan, a communications adviser for the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), said that Ukrainian oligarch Konstantin Zhevago was detained in France.
The businessman was detained in Courchevel.
“He is a defendant in several criminal cases of the State Bureau of Investigation, and now documents are being prepared for his extradition”– Sapyan said on the air of the United News telethon.
According to preliminary data, searches were recently carried out at Zhevago’s enterprises. Ukrainian media report that the oligarch is suspected of allegedly collaborating with Russia and evading taxes worth about 10 billion hryvnias.
Earlier in November, the AvtoKrAZ company, which is part of Zhevago’s Finance and Credit group, was nationalized. The assets of the enterprise came under the control of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
Konstantin Zhevago is a Ukrainian economist and politician, billionaire. According to Forbes, in 2017 he ranked 4th in the ranking of the richest people in Ukraine with a fortune estimated at $1.2 billion.
