Russian Ambassador to Bulgaria Eleonora Mitrofanova said that she was invited to the country’s Foreign Ministry for a talk on topical issues.
“The main topic, I believe, will deal with the problems with learning the Bulgarian language in the new regions of Russia, which has already been discussed in the Bulgarian parliament. The issue of the Bulgarian journalist Hristo Grozev, whom the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has put on the wanted list, will probably also be discussed,” quotes Mitrofanova TASS.
Earlier, Bulgarian national television reported that the Russian ambassador from Sofia was invited to the Foreign Ministry. According to media reports, the call is related to the announcement of a Bulgarian journalist, head of the Bellingcat* publication (recognized as a foreign agent) Hristo Grozev, on the federal wanted list in Russia.
It should be noted that the political party “Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria” earlier demanded a sharp reaction from the authorities to the decision of the Russian side to put Grozev on the wanted list. In addition, the party threatened to put Mitrofanova herself on the wanted list.
On December 26, it became known that Grozev was put on the wanted list in the Russian Federation. Under what article he is wanted, it is not specified.
The FSB previously reported that Grozev took part in the operation of Ukrainian intelligence to hijack aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It turned out that the Bulgarian journalist, through an accomplice, found two female couriers who met a courier from Moscow at the railway station in Lipetsk with an advance of $4,000 from Ukrainian intelligence for the Russian pilot who allegedly agreed to hijack.
