Lavrov said that the United States does not allow Ukraine to negotiate with Russia

The US does not allow Ukraine to negotiate peace with Russia. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“Now everyone is talking about the need for negotiations again… but they immediately accuse us of refusing to negotiate, although (Russian President Vladimir) Putin has repeatedly said that there are no serious proposals. The example of the Istanbul story clearly shows that in that time they were slapped on the hands and told: “It’s too early, too early, you haven’t exhausted Russia to the point where it seems to us, the Americans, that this is already enough”the minister stressed.

Lavrov refuted a claim by Western countries that Russia was refusing to negotiate. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled how Ukraine refuses to negotiate until “it liberates the original Ukrainian-Crimean lands.” Now in Kyiv they are demanding the surrender of Russia and the payment of reparations, the minister said.

On December 26, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the Russian Federation agreed to end the conflict through diplomacy, but Kyiv puts forward unrealistic conditions and deliberately sabotages this process. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin also recalled that on September 30, Zelensky himself signed a decree on the “impossibility” of negotiations with Russia.

In turn, Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is open to negotiations with Ukraine. According to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, President Vladimir Putin was and remains ready to discuss the situation “in order to ensure our interests.”
