35 dead, 40 injured in Somalia attack

At least 35 people were killed in the explosion of two car bombs in the city of Mahas in Somalia, informs Reuters agency. Another 40 people were injured.

“Most of the dead are civilians. Among them are women and children,” – said Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Autonomous Region Hirshabelle Hasan-Kafi Mohamed Ibrahim.

It is also known that a family of nine people became victims of the attack. Of these, only one child survived.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by an organization associated with Al-Qaeda (an international terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). It is clarified that this is not the first terrorist attack carried out by them, which became a response to the reconquest by the official authorities of the territories occupied by the militants.

Mahas County Commissioner Mumin Mohamed Khalan said one of the suicide cars was targeted at his house, and the second car was supposed to explode near the house of a federal deputy.

Earlier, a terrorist was detained in Turkey, planning an attack on tourists.
