Lavrov accused the US and the EU of intending to colonize Africa again

Demands not to work with Russia betray the desire of the US and the EU to restore Africa’s colonial dependence. This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his visit to Eritrea as part of an African tour.

“In Africa, we know, American, British and other European delegations regularly appear, which, with persistence worthy of a better application, demand that African countries not cooperate with the Russian Federation, not get out of the general discipline…”, Lavrov told reporters.

By “discipline” the West understands the resumption of the colonial dependence of the African continent, Lavrov believes. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Africa has a huge potential for economic development.

Earlier, Sergey Lavrov visited Eswatini as part of his African tour. There he met with his foreign colleague and discussed key issues of international cooperation. On January 23, during his working visit, Sergei Lavrov held talks with his colleague from South Africa Naledi Pandor, and on January 25 he visited Angola, where schoolgirls sang “Katyusha” in Russian in honor of his visit.
