Rose Marie Counts, victim of domestic violence She was fired from her job at the Sheetz convenience store in Circleville, Ohio on the grounds that her lack of front teeth was against the company’s “smile policy”.
The woman argues her position by saying that she worked for about a month without her upper front teeth, but because her husband beat her, her lower front teeth also fell out, and when her manager noticed this, she was almost fired.
“I lost my front teeth because my ex-husband hit me on the head on the pretext that I forgot to turn off the lights in the hallway. So it’s not that I used drugs or something like that, ”the victim wrote on her Facebook page.
Counts was sued in the manager’s office for violating company policy that prohibits “apparently missing, chipped, or severely discolored teeth”.
“I was nervous after working for the company for about a month. When I entered the office, the manager had a company policy regarding the appearance of employees. I was informed that the policy states that all Sheetz employees must have and remain with a perfect, beautiful and warm welcoming smile. If you are an employee of this company and break a tooth, you have 90 days to fix it, ”Counts wrote online.
Likewise, former employee Schitz claims that doing her job adequately did not help her continue her work.
“I feel that my work alone should be enough to keep my job. I don’t think I have to justify my appearance. I am not a materialistic person. I am very kind to clients. Nevertheless, Although I am good at my job, I can no longer be an ordinary employee in the company because of my smile,” she said.
Finally, Rose Marie Counts mentions that the company policy manual states that an employee must not have dental problems that limit their ability to display a nice, full, and complete smile or they will be fired.
