The US is set to provide Ukraine with a $2.2 billion military aid package that is expected to include longer-range missiles for the first time.
Such data are provided by Reuters, citing two unnamed US officials.
What kind of missiles in question is still unclear. In addition, the new tranche of military assistance will include ammunition and other weapons.
Earlier it was reported that France is going to supply the Ground Master 200 (GM200) radar system to Ukraine. The country will sign the corresponding agreement on Wednesday, February 1, said French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu.
On January 31, Lecornu said that there was no taboo for Paris on the subject of possible deliveries of fighter jets to Kyiv.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that any shipments of weapons supplied by Western countries to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of weapons would not stop, but would prolong the conflict in Ukraine, and called the position of Western countries “harmful” and “counterproductive.”
