Drones have developed a technology for rapid battery replacement: how will it help the military?

Experts examined 262 thousand patents and revealed what will affect the future in the field of drone development.

According to Technology Foresights GlobalData, more than 170,000 drone-related patents have been filed in the past three years. Experts analyzed a huge database of patents with a total of 262,000 documents and discovered the main trends in the development of UAVs.

It turns out that the most popular developments in this segment will be innovations related to the rapid replacement and charging of batteries for drones. Against this background, SZ DJI Technology stands out, which has filed 100 patents in the field of drone battery replacement. The company is actively developing UAVs for use in the agriculture, mining, oil and gas and logistics industries. Flagship models are DJI AGRAS T40 and MATRICE 300 RTK.

In second place in terms of patent applications is the world giant Boeing, which is currently actively working on EVTOL drones. The company has filed 20 patents for rapid battery replacement over the past few years.

Quick-change and fast-charging battery systems are critical for today’s military-intensive UAVs. Advances in this area will help quickly return drones with dead batteries, maximize drone uptime and significantly reduce maintenance costs.

Experts named sensor-controlled aiming aid systems and drone flight control systems, which are already actively used and proven, among other innovative areas that will guide the developments in the field of UAVs in the near future.

Previously Focus The giant wrote that the Valkyrie UAV has been tested in the United States: it can take off from anywhere.
