A Spanish Republican congressman called his party colleague’s immigration law a “bad idea.”

While the majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives oppose the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Majorcasrepresentative Tony Gonzalez (Texas) defends official’s job and calls reform of his party a “bad idea.”

Gonzalez pushed the members of his party to a less radical view of immigration issuesacknowledging that his area has been one of the hardest hit when there is a spike in non-citizen crossings.

This is reported by the portal Politico. Gonzalez met with Secretary of State Mallorcaswho several Republicans want to impeach so that he resigns.

“Very popular guy in the Republican Party, right?” Gonzalez joked about Mallorcas.

The report added that Roy and other Texas officials discussed the bill, but Gonzalez is waiting for changes before he approves it.

Chairman of the Chamber, Representative Kevin McCarthy (California), defended the differences between his colleagues, believing that each of them has different views on every issue.

In general, Republicans are less measured when it comes to proposals for immigration laws, in addition to avoiding supporting Democrat-led plans like the so-called Registration Act, which would open the way to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.
