According to representatives of the musical group, due to their civic position, they refused to give concerts not only in Budva, but also in the neighboring city.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Montenegro commented on the disruption of the Lyapis group’s concerts scheduled for 14 and 15 February in the city of Budva. This was reported on the diplomatic mission’s page on Facebook.
Musicians described the event as “unprecedented political pressure”.
“Any pressure on the owners of the club where the show will be held and the Ukrainian guests, as well as public displays of aggression and statements that sow hatred, are absolutely unacceptable and deserve unequivocal condemnation,” the embassy statement said.
Diplomats say the action held in front of the clubhouse the night before could be considered a direct threat to Ukrainians in Budva.
The embassy issued a warning call stating that the Montenegrin authorities did not ensure the safety of Budva guests and called for action.
The Montenegrin Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not comment on this case.
On February 14, the Ukrainian musical group “Lyapis 98” informed his fans that the planned concert in Budva was moving to the city of Kotor. Later, however, the band reported that all venues in the city “rejected one by one” the concert.
“Due to unprecedented political pressure on concert halls regarding the civic position of the Lyapis Trubetskoy group, it is not possible to give a concert of this group today,” the message said.
Recall that at the end of January, a march was held in Kiev in memory of the Belarusian activist Mikhail Zhiznevsky and other Belarusian citizens who died for Ukraine.
Previously Focus Belarusian Eduard Lobov reportedly died in Ukraine. Political prisoner Alexander Molchanov said the volunteer had “destroyed the invaders in close combat” and received a fatal shrapnel wound.
