Suicide in a shopping mall in Paris causes mass panic and visitors flee (video)

Visitors to the capital’s shopping center mistook the sound of a falling corpse as gunfire, local media reported.

Visitors to the 4 Temps shopping mall in the La Defense business district of Paris left the building screaming after a person committed suicide there. According to the news of the French television channel BFM TV, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 18th.

It was reported that the man jumped from the upper floors of the shopping center, and some visitors mistook the incident as a terrorist attack. Panicked Parisians rushed out of the mall.

Police denied information about the shootings and said the man fell to his death. The sound of a falling object caused a powerful roar that visitors of the mall mistook for fire.

The investigation into the suicide was completed the same evening.

Recall, on February 17, the Court of Corrections for the 16th District of Paris found four members of the far-right Barjols organization guilty of organizing a terrorist attack in the city of Charleville-Mezieres in 2018 with the aim of assassinating French President Emmanuel Macron.
