The European Commission (EC) considers “speculation” the conclusions of an investigation by US journalist Seymour Hersh that the sabotage of the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 was staged by Washington with the support of Norway under the guise of NATO exercises Baltops. This was reported TASS EC press officer Andrea Masini.

Mazini also added that the EC would no longer comment on the Hersh investigation.

“We do not comment on speculation regarding the perpetrators of the act of sabotage against the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The only basis for any possible answer to this question is an official investigation.”– she said.

This reaction was the first from the EC to Seymour Hersh’s independent investigation into the sabotage at Nord Stream, which he posted on February 8.

Sabotage at Nord Stream

The Nord Stream gas pipelines were attacked on September 26 last year. Germany, Denmark and Sweden admitted that there was a deliberate sabotage. At the same time, Russia was not allowed to participate in the investigation for a long time.

President Vladimir Putin said that what happened is an act of international terrorism, in which the Anglo-Saxons are involved.

Compensation for damage to Nord Stream was estimated at 17 billion euros. On the fact of the incidents in Russia, a criminal case was opened on the commission of an act of international terrorism.

Seymour Hersh published an article in January describing an investigation into the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines. In his material, the journalist indicated that the United States had carried out the sabotage, and personally the American President Joe Biden gave the corresponding order.

Hersh in an exclusive interview REN TV confirmed the authenticity of his investigation and noted that he considers his article one of the best among those published by The New York Times and The Washington Post.
