Moldova’s new Prime Minister announces the need for demilitarization of Pridnestrovie

According to Dorin Rejan, it is necessary to demilitarize the left bank of the Dniester by “evacuating the Russian troops.”

There is an ongoing mixed war in Moldova and an urgent need to demilitarize Transnistria. This was expressed by the new Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Rejan, according to tv8.md.

According to him, there are “real threats to the escalation of military or hybrid operations” in the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, it is not possible to mislead the inhabitants of the country that there is no danger.

“The dangers are growing accordingly and the institutions are coping. We must be mindful of dangers such as destabilization, public order, attacks on certain institutions, hybrid warfare, disinformation, ethnic hatred that paves the way for social unrest, destabilization,” Rechan said. “We have to calibrate our defense so that it is too difficult or too expensive for the attacker to attack us,” he said.

He added that there is a hybrid war waged by Russia in Moldova.

“Moscow is trying to catch the democratic processes, the European route, and we cannot hide behind our fingers that the dangers are not real, that we do not need to strengthen our abilities to defend our country. We have declared ourselves neutral, so no one is touching us, but what if someone swoops down on us, let’s grab our bags and run?” says the prime minister.

In his opinion, it is important to demilitarize the left bank of the Dniester by “evacuating Russian troops and demilitarizing the indigenous population”, and then the economic and social integration of citizens.

“We have to achieve something fundamental here – demilitarization. After that comes everything else and the economic and social integration of our citizens there is very important, but demilitarization is at the top of the table. It depends on a few things, but we are in a period of geopolitical tectonic movements and under these circumstances “I’m sure all parties will understand that this has to be done,” he said.

On February 10, the Prime Minister of Moldova resigned and dissolved the government. Natalia Gavrilitsa’s government worked for 1.5 years and when she returned from Brussels, where she headed the Moldovan delegation for the first time as an EU candidate country, it was decided to resign.

The Moldovan Security and Intelligence Service confirmed on Thursday (February 9th) the statement of President Vladimir Zelensky regarding the transfer of Ukrainian intelligence data to Chisinau. According to them, the Kremlin intends to destabilize the situation in the state.
