The Dalai Lama, Audrey Hepburn, and John F. Kennedy had previously stayed at Nassauer Hof. The defendant admitted that he lived at the hotel but was unable to pay the bills and found “serious shortcomings” in the facility.
The Nassauer Hof hotel in Wiesbaden, Germany, is suing a couple who stayed unpaid for two years there for allegedly making up different stories to get a payment deferral. SWR reports.
In the summer of 2019, a 60-year-old man and his wife checked into the Nassauer Hof with a €5,600 deposit, but refused to pay the rent.
The suspect complained of cockroaches in the room, moldy walnuts and the worm in his wife’s salad. He also claimed that he was being treated for cancer in Wiesbaden. The new manager of the hotel then instructed the staff not to contact him about the payment. Everything changed with the arrival of a new manager at the end of 2021.
The couple checked out a few weeks later and moved to another hotel in Wiesbaden, but were evicted after about four months for non-payment.
Now the management of Nassauer Hof charges one man about 145,000 Euros for accommodation and more than 92,000 Euros for additional services. The defendant admitted that he actually lived at the hotel but was unable to pay the bills and found “serious flaws” in the hotel.
The trial will continue on February 23.
