The Chinese rover has learned what is hidden under the surface of the Red Planet. This is reported on the portal. Naked Science.

The specialists presented the results of a study of underground geological formations of the Utopia Plain on Mars, which were obtained thanks to the Mars Rover radar (RoPeR) installed on the Zhurong rover.

It was found that at a depth of up to 5 meters below the surface of Mars there are traces of impact craters, and at a depth of up to 80 meters – traces of sediments formed as a result of floods.

There are interesting differences in the data obtained on Mars and earlier by Chinese lunar rovers on the Moon. Thus, the upper structure of the regolith on the far side of the Moon, unlike Mars, does not hide impact craters. According to the researchers, this is due to the lack of atmosphere, wind and dust movement on the Earth’s natural satellite, which protected the craters from further erosion.

And what do Chinese experts propose to turn the Moon into and what are they going to build there? What is the moon for? And is it possible to make a satellite of the Earth suitable for life? Details about the “colonization” of the Moon and much more – in the program “Science and Technology” with host Mikhail Borzenkov. The science blockbuster will air on Sunday, February 26 at 10:30 am on REN TV.
