“His goal is to destroy Ukraine”: Putin not interested in peace talks – German Foreign Ministry

According to Annalena Burbock, representatives from 140 states have repeatedly visited Moscow to meet with Putin and persuade him to stop the war. However, not all persuasion worked.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is really not in the mood for peace talks with Ukraine. His goal is to destroy it. This was expressed by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock in an interview with the ARD.

According to him, anyone who previously thought that they could talk to the head of the Kremlin and persuade him to peace has already abandoned this idea.

“He doesn’t want to talk, he wants to destroy Ukraine. He’s not ready to withdraw his troops, he’s not ready to stop killing,” said Burbock.

He stressed that representatives of 140 countries have repeatedly visited Moscow to meet with Putin. They tried to prove to the President of the Russian Federation that the war he started with Ukraine was hurting the whole world, but no hope was justified.

Also, Burbock commented on China’s proposed plan to end the war in Ukraine. According to him, the document only represents Beijing’s position, and the actual peace plan was supported at the UN General Assembly last week.

Early on February 24, China submitted proposals to end the war in Ukraine. The program proposed by Beijing consists of 12 items. These include the cessation of hostilities, the lifting of sanctions, and peace negotiations.

We also recall that on February 23, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution proposed by Ukraine, calling on Russia to immediately withdraw its troops from the occupied territories. Of the 193 member states of the United Nations, 141 voted in favor of the resolution.

The German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, said that in the event of an aggressive offensive war, the German army would not survive. According to him, the Bundeswehr urgently needs weapons, heavy equipment, ammunition and trained soldiers.
