German Defense Minister: US may switch attention from Ukraine to Asia

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, in an interview for Deutschlandfunk, said that Washington at any time, for some reason of its own, can change the country’s priorities and redirect attention from Ukraine to the Indo-Pacific region. This, according to the minister, should encourage the European Union to start acting more harmoniously.

“The US elections may put us in a time pressure situation. But we must always be aware that for other reasons, Americans can always shift their focus, namely towards the Indo-Pacific region”Pistorius said.

However, he also stressed that the reason for the change of priorities will not necessarily be the new US president directly.

Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang accused the US authorities of pursuing an unacceptable international policy. He stated that the States are abusing force and disregarding the norms of international law.
