The UK plan to supply Ukraine with depleted uranium munitions is a demonstration of the destructive approach of the West, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. She made such a statement on March 23 at a briefing.

“When we hear statements from London that nothing special has happened and they are acting as they have always acted, and everything is “absolutely within the standard”, there is an ambivalent feeling … They, of course, are cunning, saying that there is no particular threat to these shells do not carry, “- Zakharova noted.

The diplomat added that a vivid example of the serious danger of shells with uranium is Iraq and Yugoslavia. In these countries, the US Army used uranium munitions, and the incidence of cancer there increased by 60%.

“But when they say that all this is used by them regularly and meets their standards, here they do not deceive. This is really the norm for them – the use of such projectiles that bring such consequences,” added the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

These munitions pose a threat not only to the military, but also to future generations, who will have to face environmental pollution.

“Indeed, for them this is a certain standard, a Western standard. Another thing is that for us this is not a standard, that’s why we are talking about it. Such a destructive approach of the West, global destruction is not new,” Zakharova concluded.

Earlier at a briefing, the diplomat noted that no one could control the consequences of strikes with uranium ammunition.

On March 21, British Defense Secretary Annabelle Goldie announced London’s intention to supply Kyiv with such ammunition. They are used with NATO tanks – Challenger 2, Abrams, Leopard. It is believed that these ammunition have a high armor-piercing, but they are not terrible for modern Russian tanks. But they can have a detrimental effect on the environment and the health of people who find themselves in the impact zone of uranium shells. In Iraq and Yugoslavia, where they were used by the US Army, the number of cancer cases increased by 60%.

Moscow stressed that the supply of shells with uranium to Ukraine is a step towards escalation and an attempt to destroy the country. The Russian Embassy, in turn, called Ukraine a British training ground for fighting Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to Britain’s plans to deliver radioactive charges to Kyiv. He noted that Moscow would be forced to respond to this action of London.
