The assumption of a hypothetical scenario of a United States attack on the Russian Federation through Alaska is “ridiculous.” This was stated to the YouTube channel US Tour of Duty by former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter.
The former intelligence officer considers it impossible to create a plan in the United States to strengthen Alaska as a springboard against Russia. Answering a related question, Ritter laughed.
“Now that things are like this, the US from Alaska does not pose a significant threat to Russia”he noted.
Scott Ritter also believes that, hypothetically, in order to create such a plan, Washington needs to restore the military infrastructure in Alaska.
The retired intelligence officer also pointed out that Moscow’s military potential in the Arctic is higher than that of Washington, as the Russian side understands the strategic importance of the region and pays careful attention to its security. Under such conditions, the United States will not be able to seize the initiative in the near future.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that Moscow was wary of data on the preparation of the United States for conflicts with Russia and China in the Arctic.
