Church Blames Drug Dealers in Several Regions of Mexico, Leaving a Trail of Violence

The execution of José Noriel Portillo Gil, nicknamed “El Chueco”, is proof that there are territories ruled by a criminal economy, blamed this Monday the Conference of the Mexican Episcopate (CEM).

In its statement, the Catholic hierarchy considered that, given the inertia of the three levels of government, violence prevails in the country, as well as impunity, social and institutional destruction.

“The fact that the main perpetrator of the murder of the Jesuits was found dead shows how much the territories are controlled by the criminal economy. that they have grown out of the neglect of the government at all levels, that the problem of insecurity prevails in the Sierra Tarahumara and throughout the country,” CEM warned.

“The murder of the parents of Javier Campos and Joaquin Mora in the Sierra Tarahumara is another unfortunate murder to add to a long list. common innocent martyrs who died on the territory of the country, which is a symbolic example of the violence and social decay in which we live.”

The bishop criticized the blindness of the criminal who “feels omnipotent”.up in arms, but also institutional corruption and impunity, which have led to an escalation in crime rates and the loss of social systems capable of regulating behavior.

In recent weeks, the Mexican government has been embroiled in a public confrontation with US lawmakers and authorities who have warned of the dominance of criminal organizations in some parts of the country.

Today, The Catholic Church called for a dialogue between professionals, victims, indigenous people, migrants and churchesto urgently review the justice and security system.

“In order to collect all possible contributions for peace with justice and to make

viable proposal to our authorities and country, we are convening the National Dialogue for Peace, which will be held from September 21 to 23 at the Iberoamerican University of Puebla, with the aim of developing a National Peace Program and formulating peace place initiatives,” he said.

CEM also issued a condemnation of the tragedy recorded at the Ciudad Juarez migration station. where 39 migrants died.

“The violence brings us before the Crucified Jesus to condemn all the human injustices that have now come to light in the tragedy experienced by our migrant brothers who died in the fire at the immigration station in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, due to the irresponsible inaction of the authorities,” he added. .
