MAGA congressmen oppose arms trade halt that empowers cartels, blames Biden administration

President Joe Biden’s government accuses MAGA Republican congressmen of blocking efforts to end the arms trade that empower cartels.

“Extremists” the White House called Republicans such as Jim Jordan (Utah), who insist on the withdrawal of funds from investigative agencies such as the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

“MAGA Republican extremism in Congress is a growing threat to combat violent crime and fentanyl trafficking’, blamed the Biden administration in a statement. “President Biden is working diligently to prevent firearms from falling into the hands of drug cartels as part of a comprehensive strategy to block the flow of fentanyl into the United States.”

Without naming specific names – although Jordan is participating in the effort – the federal government has warned of Republican intentions to halt necessary efforts to combat organized crime.

“MAGA supporters in Congress are doing everything they can to thwart these efforts,” the post reads. “They are trying to defund federal law enforcement and fire thousands of border guard agents to cut taxes on the rich.”

They accused that one of the goals is to “abolish” ATPan office in charge of investigating arms trafficking and so-called “ghost weapons”.

It should be remembered that in 2022, the Biden administration launched a gun control initiative with the Department of Justice, the ATF, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) taking key actions.

“MAGA Republicans in Congress are seeking to cut funding and abolish the ATF, the federal law enforcement agency responsible for helping curb the flow of firearms into the hands of arms dealers,” the report said.

Several congressmen from the Jordan group are part of a movement seeking to send the US military to Mexico against the cartels, which has raised fears of a possible diplomatic and strategic conflict in that country.

Failed attempt against shooting

Following the recent school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, in which three children and three adults were killed, the Biden administration called on Congress to take action to ban assault weapons.

The attack was carried out with a pair of AR-47s, one of the most popular assault rifles, as well as AR-15s, which are part of the weapons that are also supplied to the drug cartels.

“MAGA Republicans Also Oppose Assault Weapons Ban President Biden, despite the fact that assault weapons purchased in the United States arm drug cartels and allow them to outwit law enforcement,” the Biden administration lamented.

“Republicans in Congress prefer tax handouts for the rich over law enforcement, and gun industry profits over American lives.”

Republicans have also been backed by former President Donald Trump, who is proposing to cut funding to the Justice Department amid criminal charges brought against him in New York.
