Caleb Heng of California started his adult life with $1 million after winning a lottery ticket he received as a gift on his 18th birthday. Reported by UPI.
The teenager told California Lottery officials that her grandmother had given her a scratch ticket, aptly titled “The Perfect Gift.”
“My mom was taking me fishing and I wiped the security screen on the way. We had to stop. It was a million dollars and I didn’t even have papers yet. We went back home because I had to get it. An ID before I could get the winnings,” Heng said.
Grandma Heng bought the winning ticket from the Oasis Market in Turlock. The winner said the prize money will go towards university tuition and future investments.
“I am delighted! I certainly did not expect that,” Heng said.
