The G7 countries will continue to freeze Russian assets located in their jurisdictions until the conflict in Ukraine ends and until Russia pays compensation for the damage caused. This is stated in the statement of the G7 foreign ministers, adopted following their meeting in Japan.
“We are determined, within the framework of the legal systems of our countries, to ensure that Russian sovereign assets located in the areas of our jurisdiction remain immobilized,” — said in a statement.
At the same time, the document emphasizes that in any resolution of the conflict, the G7 demand that Russia compensate for the damage to Ukraine.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would continue to demand the unblocking of the assets of the Central Bank in the West. According to the Kremlin spokesman, it is now becoming obvious that “these bandit actions of the collective West” aimed at blocking Russia’s reserves cannot be “packed into the norms of international law.”
