Former President of Moldova Igor Dodon urged not to divide the population of the country on Victory Day and to hold a procession of the “Immortal Regiment” without party symbols. He announced this on April 19.
“Moldova is our common home and Victory Day should unite people. We should forget about political differences on this holiday and pay tribute to those who saved our country and the whole world from fascism. Everyone who cherishes the memory of our common victory should unite and go to the March of Remembrance and the procession of the “Immortal Regiment” in one common column, without party banners and any party symbols”he said in an interview with TASS.
In addition, he stressed that his fellow party members have already supported this initiative.
“Socialists supported the call of the National Coordinating Committee “Victory” to all political forces not to divide people on Victory Day”, Dodon added.
It should be noted that in Russia in 2023 the procession “Immortal Regiment” will not be held in Russia in the traditional, full-time mode. According to the parliamentarian, this decision was made because of a number of regions, including Crimea, which refused to hold this event against the backdrop of threats from a neighboring state.
