The Belarusian politician believes that some “destructive forces” are rewriting history and provoking a new global conflict, trying to justify the crimes of World War II.
Alexander Lukashenko on April 20 in St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said that some “subversive forces” had drawn everyone into the third world war through the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the same forces are trying to rewrite history and deny joint contribution to the victory over Nazi Germany, BelTA news agency reported.
“Today we see Nazis, fascists and other garbage, destructive forces trying to rewrite history, denying our joint contribution to the great victory and justifying criminal acts then and now,” Lukashenka said.
According to the politician, these forces could not start a third world war before and will not be able to now. In this regard, he turned to Beglov, announcing today the work to be done to strengthen the union between Russia and the Republic of Belarus, “a bastion of freedom and truth in the CIS and beyond.”
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian parliament voted to terminate two agreements with the Russian Federation and one with the Republic of Belarus. In particular, they discussed the procedure for crossing the Russian-Ukrainian state border for residents of the border areas of the two countries.
During a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on April 10, Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarus needs protection guarantees from the Russian Federation, as the West has not fulfilled the agreements on security guarantees under the Budapest Memorandum.
