Already existing Western tanks and other weapons are not enough for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the moment, the newspaper writes. The New York Timesreferring to Pentagon documents leaked to the Web.

“Declaring that Abrams tanks could arrive in Ukraine by autumn brings America’s most powerful weapon one step closer to conflict. But even if they arrive earlier, they still won’t be able to reach the battlefield in time for the start of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.”says the newspaper.

According to the publication, Kyiv needs 253 tanks, and the West promised to supply only 200 in total. At the same time, 60 tanks will be Western-made, and 140 will be repaired Soviet-era vehicles.

It is also noted that Ukrainian fighters are running out of NATO shells sent earlier. And munitions manufacturers in the US and Europe say “it will take years to meet the immense demand from Ukraine.”

Earlier it was reported that the Russian military stopped the counteroffensive of Ukrainian nationalists in four directions. Also, the “Center” grouping of the RF Armed Forces prevented the counteroffensive of three brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
