Russia will demarche the United States and protest over visas not issued to Russian journalists to cover a UN Security Council meeting on April 24 chaired by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

As Sergey Ryabkov, deputy head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specified, the level of the demarche is still unknown, it will depend on work schedules, including the relevant departments in Moscow.

“Our delegation is here. But, of course, we will hold a demarche and express a corresponding protest and rejection of what is happening,” Ryabkov said.

Earlier, the White House tried to justify itself for not issuing visas to Russian journalists, calling the work of the media “propaganda.” In response to this, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called for joint opposition to the hegemony of the West.
