Russian cosmonauts spent more than seven hours in outer space

Russian cosmonauts Dmitry Petelin and Sergei Prokopyev completed their spacewalk on the morning of May 4. The broadcast was conducted by the Roskosmos corporation.

In total, Petelin and Prokopiev spent more than seven hours in open space. During this time, they managed to prepare the airlock for transfer from the Rassvet module to Nauka, observed the movement of this chamber with the ERA manipulator and its docking to Nauka. After that, the astronauts connected the cables between the airlock and the module.

“Escape hatch closed! Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin spent 7 hours 11 minutes overboard the ISS.– the press service of the corporation reported.

Note that for Prokopyev this spacewalk was the fifth in his career, and for Petelin – the third. Both cosmonauts were dressed in Orlan-ISS spacesuits during the work.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Russian missile attack warning satellite Kosmos-2222 burned up in the atmosphere.
