The withdrawal by Washington of money from citizens of the Russian Federation and their transfer to Ukraine cannot be left unanswered. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, who reacted to the decision of the United States to send the confiscated 5.5 million dollars of Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev to the Kyiv regime.

“This cannot remain without consequences for the United States,” – stressed the press secretary of the Russian president.

Peskov called this decision by Washington “direct damage.”

“Firstly, this is damage to the one from whom this money was illegally taken away or stolen. This is direct damage,” – said the representative of the Kremlin.

He added that by such actions the American side strikes on its own, violating the “holy in the United States” property rights.

“As for the United States, such decisions are hitting them like a boomerang. There are attempts to legally substantiate these decisions, although it is difficult to imagine what can serve as a legal justification, because this is nothing more than a direct encroachment on the sacred property right for the United States,” – said the press secretary of the head of the Russian state.

According to him, this decision of the United States undermines the confidence of investors and owners of assets, one way or another connected with Washington.

Recall, on February 3, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the transfer to Ukraine of more than five million dollars from the frozen accounts of Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeev in Sunflower Bank.

Note that the Russian came under US sanctions back in 2014, and then in April 2022.

After the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the countries of the collective West imposed a number of anti-Russian sanctions and froze the assets of Russian citizens in their banks.

In October, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow would take action if the EU decided to confiscate Russian money. She noted that the behavior of the West in this case should be regarded as theft, and the implementation of the plan “will bury the reputation of the European Union.”
