Russian envoy to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that the Russian Federation agreed to extend the grain deal, as it expects to solve problems with the Russian part of the agreement.

“Because we still have not lost hope that the issues we raise will be resolved, and the sooner the better”he noted.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed the words of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that the countries managed to agree on extending the deal for another 60 days.

According to her, these are a chance not in words, but in deeds to help ensure global food security.

Zakharova also noted that “distortions in the implementation” of the agreement are still observed. According to her, they should be corrected as much as possible.

As part of the “deal” in July last year, two agreements were signed. First, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN agreed on the safe export of Ukrainian food through the Black Sea. Secondly, a memorandum was signed between our country and the UN, which provided for the unblocking of export goods and fertilizers from Russia.
