A crowd of activists staged a protest right at the entrance to Chisinau. Thus, the demonstrators opposed the entry of Moldova into the European Union and the policies of the current president of the country, Maia Sandu, and the government, the correspondent reports. RIA News.
“We are here because the authorities forbade opponents to express their position on the central square regarding Moldova’s accession to the European Union. We oppose both the one-vector foreign policy imposed by Sandu and the government’s monopoly on the public expression of one’s opinion”– said the organizer of the action and the leader of the “Haiduki” movement.
According to the correspondent, the protesters unfurled the flags of Moldova, the historical banners of the Moldovan Principality and posters with anti-government slogans. The police are aware of what is happening, but the protesters do not block the road and do not interfere with the passage of vehicles, so law enforcement officers do not intervene.
It should be noted that on May 21, Sandu invited the inhabitants of Moldova to a rally, which should be held under the slogan “European Moldova”. In her opinion, in this way the republic will show the West that its citizens really want to become part of the European Union.
