Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying denied British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s accusations that China is allegedly the main threat to global security. A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry posted statistics on her Twitter page pointing to the falsity of the British Prime Minister’s statements.
“Some G7 members have called China the ‘biggest threat to global security and prosperity’. Seriously?” Hua Chunying wrote.
The diplomat attached a graph based on the World Bank database, which shows that from 2013 to 2021, China’s contribution to world GDP growth was 38.6%, while the G7 countries accounted for 25.7%. Of these, 18.6% is the contribution of the United States.
“If China is a threat, then what are G7 members who start wars with sovereign states, overthrow legitimate foreign governments, withdraw from multilateral treaties, and force other countries to cut supply chains?” — asked Hua Chunying.
She recalled that, according to preliminary data, from the end of World War II to 2001, 248 armed conflicts took place in 153 regions of the world. Of these, 201 conflicts were initiated by the United States, the diplomat stressed.
She added that the real world could not be brainwashed and fooled.
On May 19, it also became known that Britain expanded sanctions against Russia, introduced restrictions on 86 companies and individuals associated with the Russian Federation. The new list includes eight companies associated with the production of metals in Russia, as well as five Russian banks.
