A surgeon at the University Hospital in Mainz, Germany, has been fired after a doctor performed a finger amputation after asking a janitor to help him. About it informs Associated Press.

According to the publication, the institution did not have qualified personnel to help the doctor. However, the specialist decided to perform the operation.

During the operation, the patient began to move after local anesthesia, then the doctor asked the cleaner to hold the patient’s leg and asked him to hand over the instruments. It is noted that the cleaner was without any medical education.

The head of the hospital learned about the incident. He saw a janitor with blood-soaked gauze in his hands. Despite the fact that the patient had no complications after the operation, the management decided to fire the doctor.
