The Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) can launch a counteroffensive at any moment, even tomorrow, said Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine. According to him, Kyiv will not announce in advance the dates for the start of its actions.

“It could be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, or the next week. It would be weird if I started naming dates. You can’t do that,” Danilov said in interview BBC.

The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are always ready to attack and defend the country. Danilov believes that Ukraine cannot miss the opportunity to “become a truly independent, large European country.”

The head of the National Security and Defense Council noted that the Ukrainian army has no right to make a mistake. Danilov also denied suggestions that the UAF counter-offensive had already begun.

On May 15, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, once again said that Kyiv needs even more time to prepare a counteroffensive.

At the same time, on May 24, adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak, in an interview with the Rai-1 TV channel, said that the counteroffensive had allegedly been going on for several days.

Earlier, retired US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that the Ukrainian army, most likely, simply cannot launch a counteroffensive. He stressed that Kyiv is experiencing a serious shortage of soldiers, and the nine brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine trained in NATO countries will not achieve the necessary results.
