Australia cannot evacuate a diplomat from the region where the Russian Federation wants to establish an embassy (photo, video)

Australian parliamentarian Barnaby Joyce suggested that the power supply to the facility be turned off so that the Russians could leave the facility.

Russia is ignoring new emergency laws enacted to evacuate its diplomats from an area in Canberra that it wants to use as an embassy. Reported by Sky News.

“A Russian diplomat illegally sat in a disputed area and hid in a removable block on which several CCTV cameras were installed,” the publication says.

He is closely watched in the Yarralumla area by the Australian Federal Police and occasionally leaves the building to smoke and collect food.

The man cannot be removed from the disputed area due to his diplomatic immunity, but the government says a process is underway to officially reclaim the land.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement that the government was confident of its legal position.

National Party MP Barnaby Joyce suggested that the electricity to the site be cut off.

“I think he’ll get sick very quickly from the cold… Just turn off the light,” he said.

Recall, on June 15, the media reported that the Australian government plans to block the construction of a new building of the Russian embassy. Australia does not prohibit Russia from having diplomatic missions on its territory, but wants the new embassy not to be close to parliament as it threatens the country’s national security.

On the same day, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, commented on Australia’s decision to cancel the lease of the site on which they want to build the Russian embassy. According to the speaker, the desire of Australians to prevent the deployment of an enemy embassy near their parliament is “another hostile manifestation”.
