Japanese rocket engine explodes during test, hitting Japan’s aerospace industry

A rocket engine exploded during a test in Japan on Friday, and no one was injured in the incident. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Japan.

The Epsilon S engine explosion at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) test site in northern Japan was another blow to the country’s space ambitions after a series of setbacks earlier this year.

According to Naoya Takegami of the Ministry of Science and Technology, international agencies published images of a test site in the northern prefecture of Akita, which was engulfed in flames and caused a huge plume of smoke.

“So far, we have not received any reports of injuries” from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, which is investigating the incident, Takegami said.

The explosion occurred about a minute after the second stage engine was tested. the official said.

Television footage showed the flames erupting from the wall of the test center before the entire small building was engulfed in flames and the roof was blown off.

Recently, Japan’s space program has suffered a series of setbacks., including the failure of its medium-lift rocket during its debut flight in March, when its second-stage engine failed to fire as planned. Another launch was aborted a month earlier.

Although Japan’s aerospace program is one of the most important in the world, it has experienced significant setbacks in recent months.

A second attempt to launch a next-generation H3 rocket in March failed after a failed Epsilon rocket launch in October.
