I had drinks with people: Drunk monkey attacked 4,000 people in 3 months

The aggressive primate broke into stores and drank with the locals, but after drinking too much alcohol, it became ferocious and bit children.

In Nepal, a drunken monkey has attacked 4,000 people in the last three months. The Daily Star writes about it.

Numerous patients, including a nine-year-old boy, were treated at the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital (STIDH) in Kathmandu following the sudden increase in monkey bites in the area.

In fact, the father of one of the victims told the Kathmandu Post newspaper that only one animal had attacked 4,000 people in the last two to three months.

According to reports, the aggressor primate broke into shops and drank with residents, but after drinking too much, he became ferocious and bit children.

According to STIDH, monkey bites are the second most common in Nepal after dog bites. The peak of monkey attacks in the country usually occurs in July and August. Most bites occur outside the temples they call home. In addition to bad wounds, there is another risk – doctors fear that some monkeys may become infected with rabies.

In one of the temples, a study was carried out, the purpose of which was to study viruses carried by primates, which can pose a threat to humans and are transmitted from animals to humans.

Scientists have found that many of the monkeys suffer from various diseases, some of which can pose a threat to human life.

It is not yet known how common these particular diseases are. But another study found rabies virus in a dead monkey in Shimla municipality, India. This means that monkeys can be susceptible to infection and potentially transmit disease. Biologists have suggested that the monkey was infected by a dog.

Previously Focus Twin pandas were born at a zoo in South Korea. Such an event is rare, as pandas have less than 50% chance of giving birth to twins. In the wild, mothers often face a struggle for survival as they cannot care for two cubs at the same time.

It was also learned that the bear took a box of cakes from the delivery van, then dragged it to the backyard and ate all of its contents. People tried to drive the animal away for a long time, including using the car horn, but the animal kept coming back.
