Disgusting ex-prosecutor accused of corruption and harassment now commits ‘Armenian genocide’ – media

Luis Moreno Ocampo, former head of the International Criminal Court’s Office of the Chief Prosecutor, writes that Karabakh has now added his contacts with Armenian separatists to this “past past”, who had previously been accused of rape, ties to war criminals and corruption for no reason. Channel 5. Journalists say the Kremlin’s proxies are publicly promoting criminal narratives and trying to launder the reputation of the separatists in the enclave.

Ocampo’s rape allegations

In 2008 The Telegraph reported that Ocampo forced sexual intercourse with a local journalist during a visit to South Africa: “The prosecutor took the car keys from the journalist and did not return them to him until he agreed to have sex…” . The rapist’s testimony was given by his colleague, Cristan Palme, who was the press secretary of the ICC prosecutor’s office, whom Ocampo later fired.

Ocampo corruption allegations

In 2017, investigators from Mediapart discovered offshore companies in Ocampo while working as the ISS’s attorney general. The official explained his “income” by the fact that his salary was “insufficient”. After resigning from the ISS, Ocampo owned real estate: The Hague (€1.2 million), 5 properties in Argentina ($2.2 million) and $1 million in the bank.

Journalists note that in his 9 years as an ISS prosecutor, Ocampo closed only one criminal case against Thomas Lubange, the leader of a paramilitary group in Congo. He was convicted in 2012, a few months before Ocampo’s resignation. But even here there were some scandals. Lubange used children to participate in hostilities. This case has been under investigation since 2006. But journalists write that, with Ocampo’s connivance, Lubanga was never accused of sexual violence.

Ocampo’s article helps pro-Russian Armenian separatists

In 2010, Ocampo, who was an ISS prosecutor, visited Yerevan and met with the former president of Armenia, Sargsyan. Five years later, Ocampo visited Yerevan again to participate in the “Against the crime of genocide” forum. On July 29, 2023, Arayik Harutyunyan, the head of pro-Russian separatists in Karabakh, applied to the former prosecutor, rapist and corrupt official for “expert opinion”. The result of this was the “2023 Armenian Genocide” report. Journalists say that the prosecutor, who has been investigating a case for 9 years, “understood” the situation in Karabakh in just 9 days.

The former prosecutor’s 28-page report echoes the only propaganda idea that has been refuted multiple times by the international media since the beginning of this year – the so-called “humanitarian catastrophe among the 120,000 Artsakh population”.

But this thesis was rejected by People’s Deputy Vladimir Kreydenko. Journalists say that the Ukrainian parliamentarian, who easily ordered meat, fish, cheese and sweets in Khankendi, the capital of the enclave, proved that there was no hunger in the Armenian enclave.
