Texas officers seized over $380,000 worth of cocaine on a bus from Mexico.

Customs officers in Texas found about two dozen packages of cocaine worth more than $380,000 on a commercial bus from Mexico.

The driver of the truck carrying the nopales and the seized drugs was turned over to the US federal authorities for an investigation to determine to which criminal group the illegal shipment belonged.

“During this fiscal year, we have experienced a dramatic increase in fentanyl seizures at ports of entry in Arizona,” said Michael Humphreys, Director of Nogales Port of Entry for Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

In the current fiscal year 2023, from October 1 to July, according to the federal agency, Approximately 12,000 pounds (5,443 kg) of fentanyl were seized at ports of entry in Arizona.

This figure represents a 161% increase from 4,597 pounds (2,085 kg) seized at ports of entry in Arizona in FY 2022.

However, that number is sure to rise as fiscal 2023 is just a few weeks away.
